Buffalo Bruce’s Mercantile Vandalized; Danny Trejo to the Rescue

One of the Valley’s hidden gems, Buffalo Bruce’s Mercantile, was vandalized on July 11, 2015. The bohemian BBQ coffee shop has been a Sylmar mainstay since 1997, when owner Vivian Hartman opened the cafe in honor of her daughter who passed away from leukemia.

Vivian has already raised $2,050 on gofundme to help cover the costs of painting over the derogatory words, and the community has shown an outpouring of support. Even local superstar Danny Trejo has spoken up (see video) and will be signing autographs at the neighborhood paint day on Sunday, July 19, at 10 a.m.

To show support, you can join the join the paint day party at 13661 Hubbard Street, Sylmar, 91342. But the ultimate show of love would be your continued support at local small businesses like this that deserve your love and attention. Starbucks and Buffalo Wild Wings are doing fine on their own.
