Rah Azul Completes Commissioned Piece for New Mayor

Rah Azul, who has been featured here on i am sf various times for his works of art in the community, was recently commissioned to paint a piece for Eric Garcetti.

Garcetti was a candidate in the Los Angeles mayoral race when Rah unveiled the 6-by-4 acrylic on canvas entitled “Latinos for Garcetti.” Now, Garcetti has won the race, and we can say the next mayor of Los Angeles owns a work of art from a Van Nuys native.

Through the painting, Rah hopes to shine a light on the importance of access to knowledge for young people. He describes the grey background as the world without knowledge and culture and “the¬†book is the life giver which brings color, change and hope into existence.”

To get at April's heart, FedEx puppies to her door, offer In-N-Out cheeseburgers by the dozen or introduce her to a beer tastier than the last.
