The San Fernando Museum of Art and History. Wait. I know, I know. I’ve never been there either. San Fernando indeed has a museum and it’s located at a mid-century firehouse on Brand Boulevard.
I’ve actually attempted to visit, but I’m usually working during their business hours (According to the website, they’re open 11 a.m.-3 p.m., Wednesday-Sunday, and closed on Monday and Tuesday.) From what I’ve heard, it’s a location worth supporting.
OK, so now that we know there’s a museum in San Fernando that you’re going to make a point to visit, let me give you some motivation. They’ll be running the “Impetus Fusion” exhibit with sketches by artist Gordon Van Dusen, Sr. (Some of you may have previously seen his work at the House of Brews.)
On Dec. 15, you can meet and talk with the artist and his son, who is also named Gordon and is heavily influenced by his father’s work.
For more information, contact Meg or “Mama Hazze” at 818.298.0692. The museum is located at 519 South Brand Boulevard in San Fernando.
