On the Hunt for Ghosts

If ghost-riding the whip is not your thing, maybe hunting ghosts is more up your alley. On Saturday, June 15, Valley Investigators of the Paranormal will host a ghost-hunting boot camp fundraiser at the San Fernando Pioneer Memorial Cemetery.

Get a tour of the cemetery while experts discuss first-hand experiences in ghost hunting, explain what type of equipment is used to sense ghost activity, and provide pointers on how to conduct independent investigations.

Special guest Erik Vanlier will talk about the activity he witnessed at Pioneer Cemetery while filming “Ghost Girls,” an upcoming reality TV show. Pioneer Cemetery was also featured on A&E’s popular cable television show “My Ghost Story.”

Proceeds from the ghost-hunting fundraiser will be used for cemetery projects and restoration. Admission is $50 for adults over 21 and $25 for those between the ages 13 and 20. Please note that children under age 13 will not be admitted to the event. Tickets may be purchased at the door or bought online. Update: This just in! Here’s a coupon for a $35 entry fee.

Get in on the hunt at San Fernando Pioneer Memorial Cemetery, 14451 Bledsoe Street, Sylmar. The event runs from 6 p.m. to midnight and includes an intermission with refreshments. For more information, call 818-970-1286.

i am san fernando is April Aguirre, a writer born and raised in the San Fernando Valley. April bounced around the Valley throughout her upbringing and lived outside of California for a quick minute but always felt most at home in the city of San Fernando. To get at April's heart, FedEx puppies to her door, offer In-N-Out cheeseburgers by the dozen or introduce her to a beer tastier than the last.
